#75. The General Roy Pub, Feltham. 5.12.15.

Phants Phestive Phlyer!

Back at the General Roy for the third time, it was the Phantoms traditional start to the phestivities.
It was great to see the pub packed to the rafters from the off, most appreciated by our support act on the night, Roger Henderson, who was on the middle leg of a marathon UK tour taking in Wales, Feltham & Cambridgeshire in just 3 consecutive nights. Top work!
So, with the crowd suitably warmed up & the Phantoms full to the gills (Gamon-Tastic anyone?) it was time to take to the stage.
It wasn’t long before the band had people dancing in every available inch of floor space with the set 1 highlights turning out to be the Beatles classic ‘Twist & Shout’ & closer ‘Parklife’ by Blur.
After an all too brief beer break it was soon time to get back on it & the band were amused to see some old bloke down the front fall asleep during second set opener, ‘I Predict a Riot’. Well, maybe not! How can anyone nod off during that?!
So, undeterred, the Phantoms cracked on with new song, 80’s classic ‘Relax’ going down especially well with the Feltham massive (thanks to Super Phan Kaz for the song suggestion). Note. Be careful what you ask us to play in future!
Next up, the band dedicated ‘Sex on Fire’ by the Kings of Leon to our favourite barmaid Elaine, resulting in the Phantoms lead singer getting the promise of cuddle! Although I’m sure he’d probably prefer a cup of tea!
Anyhoo, a great second set soon came to an explosive end with the assembled masses singing and dancing along to guaranteed crowd pleasers ‘Time Warp’ (it’s just a jump to the left, etc, etc) & ‘Right to Party’ by the Beastie (Phantom) Boys.
With the ‘up for it’ crowd baying for more it was time for the inevitable seasonal Xmas encore, which after the distribution of Santa hats to the crowd (or bin bags for the unlucky few!) went down a storm. What a cracking finale to another great year of Phantom action!
All that remained was for the management to chuck out the band & hard core Phans at about 1 in the morning. Sadly all good things must come to an end.
A great end to a great year. Merry Phantmas everybody & hope to see you again in 2016! x

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
