#57. The Peel, Kingston. 20.10.12.

Phworr!

Before we even got started the whole gig could have been catastrophically delayed after an alluring young lady in her pants tried to tempt half the band into the venue next door to watch her slide up and down a pole (I think that’s what they get up to!), but ever the professionals we declined her offer and trooped off to the soundcheck instead! That would never have happened in Brians' day!! So, having shared this venue with our mates JB & The Wolfmen earlier in the year, the bands decided to switch the running order this time round resulting in the Phantoms taking to the stage earlier than usual (a fact that escaped one of our loyal following who showed up a few hours later after we had finished, oops!) Anyhoo, the Phantoms were soon well into their stride deafening the punters with a VERY LOUD jam packed hour long set including 4 completely new songs, which all appeared to go down well. Vid clip here! Next up, the Wolfmen, who in the words of their very own Johnny Wolfman, went on to ‘knock out some well intended but probably quite hamfisted punk and blues gold’! We especially enjoyed their latest offering, ‘F-olding Money’. By the way, did you know they have a CD for sale? A massive thanks to the few hard core Phans that came along to see both bands. Some all the way from Dudley, wherever that is! Your continued support is greatly appreciated. Note to self, never book a gig on the same night as Sandi Toksvig! Incidentally, both bands are already looking forward to our next venture together on 1st Dec. Hope you can join us then, providing Toksvig has finished her tour!

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
