Phants get off! You're rubbish!

It's the Phantom Show, with our very special guest stars, JB & The Wolfmen. After a years absence the Phants were finally back at the Grey Horse in Kingston for their ever popular end to the year kicking off the festive fun! And what a truly great night it turned out to be. Firstly, in an attempt to look (& sound) more professional it was amusing to see the individual Phantoms sneaking around trying not to be seen breaking the new self imposed no drinks before a gig rule! Shame on you! Anyway, onto business. After a phine support set from the Wolfmen the Phantoms took to the stage for what turned out to be a marathon 24 song long set! Who thought that would be a good idea? No wonder we had no voices left by the end! But the regular phans were treated to a load of new(ish) songs only recently demo’d at a private gig with Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life being the pick of the bunch. The night passed in a blur of singing & dancing and before we knew it, the Phants were donning their Santa hats & belting out a couple of Christmassy classics before the planned encore of Daft Punks ‘Get Lucky’. That went down a storm & with the crowd baying for more (and luckily with one more song up our sleeves just in case) the Phants bought the night to a close with the punters fav, ‘Wonderful World’. As it turned out, the night wasn’t quite over as the ever demanding Phantom following forced us into a real unplanned encore! After a quick conflab about what else we could remember to play, a couple more songs were duly delivered during which time Gibbo notably deserted the stage for a dance with the adoring masses before returning to wrap things up. The sizable crowd were amazing, steaming up the venue whilst singing & dancing all night long, encouraging the band to give one of their best performances in recent memory! And top marks to Phantom Al for making the effort with his Christmassy outfit, poor showing the rest of you Phants! Xmas jumpers all round next year?

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
