#68. FeltSHOCK2, The Shed, Feltham. 7.11.14.

Feltshock flyer.

With Nov unavailable for this one, it was not only FeltSHOCK that was back from the grave, but also ex Phantom Paul filling in on bass duties. After a spectacular fireworks display a decent sized crowd stayed on to witness the Phantoms plus fellow stable mates Fused & the Mighty Shed rocking late into the night (well, maybe not exactly ‘rocking’ in the case of the Phantoms. Do Abba covers count as rock?) Anyhoo… Fused had the honour of kicking things off and duly warmed up the crowd & it was soon the turn of the Phantoms (with the Grim Reaper on lead vocals!) to turn up the volume. The new(ish) covers went down well early on in the set, as did Angelfield’s ‘Exhibit #1’, a nod to absent friends. Then, the band cranked things up a notch (or two) with some well established crowd pleasers and was soon cruising to a climactic finish when disaster struck! Someone backstage tried to sabotage the evening by pulling out the plug to the equipment powering the vocals. Pesky kids! Thankfully the soundmen were quick to resolve the issue & things were soon back on track with the Phantoms earning a well deserved encore from the enthusiastic dancing phans (who were once again well lubricated due to copious amounts of free homebrew)! And top marks to those in the crowd that dared to come in fancy dress. Hopefully see you next year for more of the same!

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Paul Castle (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
