#54. The Peel, Kingston. 10.03.12.

Phants at the Peel - if we don't got it, you don't want it!

The Phantoms kicked off 2012 with their debut appearance at
the Peel in Kingston, a place that had previously played host to the likes of Gary Moore, Fish, Hard-Fi and You Me At Six to name but a few. Joined on the night by the fantastic JB & The Wolfmen + Fused. Soundcheck was slightly delayed as Nov got a bit lost in the pole dancing club next door! But things were soon underway with Fused entertaining the early few (joined on the night by a strangely familiar looking drummer!). After a great set of new & old covers by the likes of Jessie J, Duffy, Katy Perry & even Huey Lewis (it's hip to be square you know!), it was the turn of JB & The Wolfmen to unleash their unique sound. Apparently all their songs were covers too but not that many in the now decent sized crowd knew that until they finished with a Clash song! Top work Wolfmen! Finally, the Phantoms took to the gleaming stage. With only an hour till curphew the band rocketed through their greatest hits set with new songs 'Boulevard of Broken Dreams' & 'Twist & Shout' going down especially well, and Gary Newman's 'Cars' proving to be many of the crowds fav. We were all then hoping for a memorable after show party next door and were so rather disappointed to be asked to leave at 11.30! Bugger! Thanks to all the Phans that came along to support the bands, see you again next time!

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Jon Novice (bass & vocals) & Alun Westoll (drums & vocals).
