#50. The Gomstock Festival, Gomshall. 28.08.11.

Phants at Gomstock 2011!

So, the Gomstock Music Festival turned out to be scene for the Phantoms 50th ever gig when by popular demand your (ph)avourite covers band were added to the impressive line-up at the last minute (well, with a weeks notice) alongside the likes of local favourites ‘Gavin & Cameron’, ‘Pigearth’ & 'the Beautiful Losers’ to name but a few! With Nov unable to make it for this one, the Phants were pleased to be joined on stage by ex band member Paul on bass who thankfully remembered how to play all the old Phant classics! As has been the way this Summer, the rain was falling when the band took to the stage but after a couple of songs, the sun popped out much to the delight of the watching crowd & the Phants drummer who was fearing electrocution under the leaky stage roof! The Phantoms set went down well (despite us not being an acoustic duo!), even managing to distract a few of the lunchtime crowd from their Sunday roasts (maybe it was a bit early in the day for our full on punk onslaught)! 10 songs later, with the sun still shining, the band wrapped things up with their latest cover of Gary Newman’s Cars. Both band & crowd seemed to enjoy themselves & it was great to have Paul (briefly) back in the fold. Here’s hoping we get asked back again next year!

The Phantoms were: Mark Gibson (lead vocals & keys), Kevin Rogers (guitar), Jason Biggs (guitar & vocals), Alun Westoll (drums & vocals) plus Paul Castle (bass).
