The Phantoms get horny at the Grey Horse! With the bands pre-gig
publicity stunt of the burning of the Koran cancelled, instead
solo support act Roger Henderson got the evening off to a phine
start, and it was then soon time for the Phants to let loose!
Despite half the band feeling under the weather, ever the (semi)
professionals, the boys were soon well into their stride belting
out their usual brand of crowd pleasing cheesy covers! The girls
down the front row were even treated to watching half the set
with the lead singers flies undone! Nice. But the highlight of
the first set was undoubtedly being joined onstage for a couple
of songs by Tim Howard on sax (the Phantom’s keyboard player
also moonlights in another band from Huntingdon called
10
o’clock curfew with Tim). By the way, Huntingdon is
somewhere countrified North of Watford if you were wondering!
Tim put in a truly amazing performance with his horn, making it
look easy (possibly due to the fact he’s from the country & has
6 fingers)! The second set then opened with a bang with a
rousing rendition of ‘Let Me Entertain You’, sung by the band’s
rhythm guitarist, Jason. From that point on things intensified
to fever pitch with the atmosphere ramping up with every song
the Phantoms played & soon the 100 strong crowd were dancing &
singing like phans possessed! The boys latest new cover ‘Last
Night’ by the Strokes especially getting a favourable reception.
And sadly, it was over all too soon! So we are now really
looking forward to doing it all over again on 4th
December. Xmas song(s) promised! Ho ho ho!
