A pleasing crowd & one of the
most enjoyable gigs we have ever done! After a great set from our ever
present support act, The Woodcut Process (now featuring 4 original
songs!), the Phantoms took to the stage (to the sounds of ‘Sgt Pepper’s
Lonely Hearts Club Band’ – it was 40 years ago today! Well, yesterday
actually!) for their first public appearance of 2007. A large crowd had
gathered (apart from our so-called ‘Road Crew’, who spent the whole gig
in the front bar drinking and talking to girls!) with the promise of 4½
brand new songs on offer and the band didn’t disappoint! The first set
went down well, the second went down a storm! All the new songs received
a rousing reception and the opening drum riff of ‘Chelsea Dagger’ saw
(heard!) the buoyant crowd in exceptionally fine voice! From the band’s
point of view it was probably one of our best ever gigs, slightly let
down by the fact that the sound man had no idea how to work the pub’s
fantastic new PA & mixing desk! The pre gig publicity promised the
‘Phantoms bare all’! Well, as it turned out, thankfully only Simon bared
his knees! P.S. If you were the ‘Long Blonde’ standing in the middle of
the crowd and are interested in being the Phant’s next ‘Poster Girl’
please get in touch!!
