Steve Waterman is
renowned as one of the top British jazz trumpet players
both at home and on the
international scene, Steve began his career while
studying at the Trinity College Of Music, and since then
has
worked regularly on the British and European jazz scene.
Steve has a remarkable recording career, spanning the
past 20 years, and has worked with a great variety of
jazz and cabaret artists worldwide. Steve has his own
quintet and in 2003 formed his 18-piece jazz orchestra
playing his original competitions.
He is professor of Jazz Trumpet at The Royal Academy Of
Music and Trinity College of Music in London and
visiting Jazz Trumpet specialist at The Royal Northern
College Of Music and The Royal Welsh College Of Music
And Drama.
Steve also teaches on many summer jazz courses and has
conducted numerous Trumpet master classes and workshops
ranging in size from small groups to big bands
throughout the UK and in Spain, Finland, Latvia and
Cuba.Steve
is very committed to Jazz education. He has co-written
with John O'Neil a highly acclaimed Jazz Trumpet tutor
book - THE JAZZ METHOD FOR TRUMPET published by Schott &
Co.

The Steve Waterman
Sextet
The sextet was put together for the Mainstem CD
“STABLEMATES” to feature the music of Benny Golson. The
band features the classic Golson compositions “Whisper
Not, “I Remember Clifford”, Along Came Betty”,
“Killer Joe” and many others all with new arrangements
especially written by Steve Waterman for this sextet.

Waterman Quintet
This group provides a tonal contrast to the sextet for
the “STABLEMATES” CD, and features the compositions of
Wayne Shorter. The band plays new Steve Waterman
arrangements of classic Shorter tunes such as
“Footprints”, Fee Fi Fo Fum”, “Infant Eyes” and many
others.

This band has been formed to play music from Steve's
latest Mainstem release "Our
Delight" playing the music of Tadd Dameron and Herbie
Hancock
“Our Delight” is the second volume produced by David
Hays of Mainstem Records series, presenting the music of
pre-eminent American jazz composers.
The Steve
Waterman Jazz Orchestra
has partnered with British jazz trumpeter Bruce Adams -
and we are presenting a "Tribute to Trumpet Kings" - the
concerts feature Bruce Adams and Steve Waterman,
accompanied by the jazz orchestra, playing in the styles
of the jazz trumpet greats - from Roy Eldridge, Louis
Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke through to Kenny Baker,
Maynard Ferguson and Miles Davies.
